Their main mission is to solve crimes and finding missing people, among other tasks. They use several tools to conduct their research such as internet, surveillance videos, tapes, confidential information, records, and face-to-face interviews. At the end of their assigned cases they present a report to their clients containing a detailed information about how the investigation was developed.
They can work as freelancers; however, most of these professionals are hired by law enforcement agencies to carry out criminal investigations. It's recommendable to have a well-written Detective resume in case the organization asks you to bring one. Educational requirements for this position are: a bachelor's degree in criminal justice or political science, and some experience in the field.
